Ketika kita memakan makanan pedas, capsaicin akan berikatan dengan reseptor di lidah kita yang bertanggung jawab untuk merasakan rasa pedas. Hal ini akan mengirimkan sinyal ke otak yang menghasilkan sensasi panas atau terbakar di mulut dan tenggorokan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Namun ketika kita minum air hangat setelah memakan makanan pedas, air hangat tersebut membantu melarutkan capsaicin yang terdapat di dalam makanan pedas. Hal ini membuat capsaicin terpecah dan tersebar di seluruh mulut dan tenggorokan, sehingga distribusinya menjadi lebih merata dan tidak terkonsentrasi pada satu titik saja. Akibatnya, rasa pedas yang kita rasakan menjadi berkurang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Selain itu, air hangat juga membantu mengurangi inflamasi atau peradangan yang terjadi di lidah dan tenggorokan akibat paparan capsaicin. Air hangat juga membantu menenangkan saraf di mulut dan tenggorokan yang teriritasi akibat rasa pedas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify wp-block-paragraph\">Air hangat hanya akan membantu mengurangi rasa pedas sementara, dan tidak akan menghilangkan capsaicin sepenuhnya. Selain itu, kasein yang terkandung di dalam susu juga bisa mengurangi inflamasi yang terjadi akibat paparan capsaicin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yoghurt mengandung asam laktat yang bisa membantu melarutkan capsaicin dan memberikan rasa dingin pada lidah. Selain itu, kandungan lemak dan protein di dalam yoghurt juga membantu mengurangi rasa pedas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Es krim mengandung lemak dan gula yang bisa membantu melarutkan capsaicin dan memberikan sensasi dingin pada lidah. Namun, perlu diingat bahwa mengonsumsi es krim dalam jumlah yang berlebihan juga bisa menyebabkan efek samping seperti obesitas dan diabetes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minyak zaitun mengandung senyawa fenolik yang bisa membantu mengurangi rasa pedas di mulut dan tenggorokan. Caranya adalah dengan mengonsumsi minyak zaitun secara langsung atau menggunakannya sebagai bahan masakan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Madu mengandung senyawa anti-inflamasi yang bisa membantu mengurangi inflamasi di mulut dan tenggorokan akibat paparan capsaicin.
